The company

TUI Deutschland GmbH was founded in 1968 and is headquartered in Hanover. It is the leading tour operator in Germany and a wholly owned subsidiary of the TUI Group, the world's largest tourism group. The tour operator is responsible for the creation, distribution and marketing of vacation tours on the German market.

At a glance:

  • Development of a stand-alone system for flight accounting with interface to SAP
  • Web-based application for creating outgoing invoices for the group's own airline and for checking incoming invoices for purchased charter flights
  • Project management and testing by neusta enterprise services

The task

In the course of the change of the financial system to SAP, in which neusta enterprise services played a leading role, TUI Deutschland GmbH commissioned the programming of a stand-alone solution for flight accounting.

The implementation

The new FAIS system was developed at two locations. team neusta was commissioned with the development of the import interfaces, with project management and with supporting the specialist department with the user acceptance tests. The development of the core application was carried out by a company in Braunschweig. After the end of the project, the transition of the source code to team neusta took place.

During implementation, dependencies on the parallel replacement of Oracle Financial by SAP had to be taken into account. Various interfaces were created for importing customer and supplier master data as well as accounting-relevant data from several upstream systems. The development was carried out according to the agile Scrum method in fourteen-day sprints. The team of ten was divided into the roles of project management, scrum master, product owner, developer and tester.

The result

The new FAIS application stands out from the previously used Oracle solution in many respects. The web-based application is not only cloud-enabled, but also provides a much more user-friendly interface with individual setting options and multiple languages. For users, the new FAIS allows improved monitoring and error handling of the interfaces. Created invoices are transferred to SAP.

During the project phase, a great deal of expertise was built up, so that neusta enterprise services was also commissioned by TUI with the support of FAIS and further sub-projects.
